Raising Minimum Wage Will Not Sufficiently Impact Poverty

If one raises the minimum wage but does not increase the number of jobs then the "poverty factor" is not impacted. Those who already had jobs simply make more money (which in itself is not a bad thing). But if the goal is to help lift people out of poverty then long-term employment opportunities must factor into the equation. Long-term employment is the kind of employment that positions people to purchase homes and save for eventual retirement.
