Gun Violence in Philadelphia

Here is a glimpse of my thinking on the issue of violence. Violence is Glamorized in our society - just look at Entertainment both in music and on the screen. Well, they say it is just music or just a movie. Young minds don't always delineate the "imaginary" element of music or movies. Thus, the Glamorized alternate reality in a child's mind becomes his/her galvanized reality in their adult thinking and lifestyle, which in turn becomes the horrid reality that we as a society experience in our neighborhoods. Wise words for us to act on are: As a person thinks so is that person. One acts out of what is abundantly in his/her heart. As a society, we MUST NOT SOLELY RELY ON POLITICIANS AND POLICYMAKERS to address issues like gun violence. This is something that has to be addressed in the schools; charting our course into substantive and pervasive civility must be INCLUDEd IN the EDUCATIONAL CURRICULUM in two ways: A COURSE focused ON promoting CIVILITY in the Urban environment AND THE SAME CONCEPTS WOVEN INTO the very fabric of EVERY SUBJECT taught in our schools FROM K - 12th GRADES.
