First "Stop & Go's" Now "Safe Injection Sites"

This Stop 'n Go at 56th and Osage has caused the quality of life in our neighborhood to become progressively worse. The homeowners and decent residents in the neighborhood have complained at the 18th District Community Meetings over the past several years about the nuisance activity and criminal elements that this business has attracted. Due to developments obviously connected with those who frequent this nuisance business, the City of Philadelphia has denied the petition of the homeowners and decent residents for a block party the last three years. Yet, this business has continued to thrive while the City politicians have said that nothing can be done because it is a liquor establishment that falls under State regulation. (Mind you: while the State regulates liquor distribution, sales and consumption; the City regulates zoning, licensing and inspections, which means that the City can do something.) However, due to the Wuhan Coronavirus, this nuisance business has been closed. Wow!!! I am amazed that the complaints of homeowners and decent residents have been for all intents and purposes ignored but the political powers that be has mandated this nuisance business be shuddered because of the Coronavirus. This should not have been the reason that a nuisance business is required to close before 10:30pm!!!

The quality of life in our neighborhoods have been severely degraded by "Stop & Go's"; now, they want to add "Recreational Drug Houses". When are we going to wake-up out of this nightmare? Like a flood a Standard must be lifted up against these vices!

Two questions: No drugs issued at the site? Then, where and by whom will the drugs be issued?

‘You Blindsided Us’: Residents Outraged Over Safe Injection Site Being Put In South Philadelphia By Alecia Reid February 26, 2020

"Former Gov. Ed Rendell, who sits on the board of Safehouse, says there’s a lot of misconception that having an injection site will turn people into addicts, but he assures that no drugs will be issued at the facility. Clean needles will be provided, then confiscated, before users head out the door. There will also be social workers on hand to talk to users about treatment programs."
